Ernest "Ernie" J. Ashcroft (birth registered April→June 1925 (age 86–87) in Wigan district[1]) is an English former professional rugby league footballer of the 1940s '50s and '60s, and coach of the 1950s and '60s who at representative level has played for Great Britain, England, and British Empire XIII, and at club level for Wigan, and Huddersfield, playing at Fullback, or Centre, i.e. number 1, or, 3 or 4, and at club level has coached for Huddersfield, and Warrington.
